Gandhi's Datta Putra (Adoption yoga)

|| Om Gurave Namah ||

Dear Jyotishas,

  I was thinking about Mahatma Gandhi's chart and amount of good(or bad) karma that can be inherited by Adopted Children.
Mahatma Gandhi performed many good Karma. The amount of Karma inherited by Gandhi's adopted child and grandchildren seems to be higher here. Some karma would also have passed to his actual children also, But that is besides the point as this is  well know that actual children normally take over the pitri karma. Here I wanted to focus on power of Adoption process.

Even though Gandhi would not have known that he is actually passing some of his karma to Feroze while doing the adoption. The actual adoption could have been politically or emotionally motivated, which is not the point here. The fact is adoption happened. Due to which in today's Indian political scenario the "Gandhi" name is power and the "Gandhi Family" is very strong. Gandhi Family got it's names due to this single most important event history when Gandhi adopted of Feroz Khan. Due to which he becomes Feroze Gandhi and Indira Nehru becomes Indira Gandhi as adopter daughter-in-law of Gandhi.

I just wanted to see this in Gandhi chart. Saptamsa Chart is key to this analysis. Let me first qoute some shlokas from BPHS,

putrabhAve budhaxetre mandaxetre.athavA punaH |

mande mAndiyutau dR^ishhTe tadA dattAdayaH sutAH || Ch16.9||

16.9. Should Putr Bhava be owned by Sani, or Budh and be occupied, or drishtied by Sani and Mandi, one will have adopted issues.

paJNchame shhaD.hgrahairyukte tadIshe vyayarAshige |

lagneshendU balADhayau chet.h tadA dattasutod.hbhavaH || 11||

16.11. Adopted issue is indicated, if Putr is tenanted by six Grahas, while its Lord is in Vyaya Bhava and Candr and Lagn are endowed with strength.

suteshe vyayabhAvasthe jAtaH putrasukhojGYitaH |

dattaputrayuto vA.asau krItaputrAnvito.athavA || 24.60||

24.60. If Putr's Lord is in Vyaya Bhava, the native will be bereft of happiness from his own sons, will have an adopted, or purchased son.

Shloka 16.9 and 24.60 is perfectly applicable to Gandhi chart. In Rashi and Saptamsa Chart we have Maandi in 5th house. Maandi indicates giving karma (like Gulika showing receiving karma). The Maandi indicates the person who would take some of your Karma. Here it shows some Children as it's in 5th house.  Saturn and his two childran Maandi and Gulika show all karma give and takes. Here we see that 5th house is of Saturn's house in Gandhi's Rashi Chart. And in saptamsa Saturn is in 11th house aspecting Rahu and Venus combination with Mandi in 5th house. Rahu here also indicates some political/diplomatic motivation in adoption. Venus indicates the Marital reason as Feroz was adopted by Gandhi to get him married to Indira. The marriage happened in 1942 so just before the marriage this adoption happened(I would be happy if anyone provides the exact date and time). The Dasa of Jupiter was running for Mahatma Gandhi. Jupiter is the 5th lord, putra kaaraka in 12th house in saptamsa disposing the Rahu with Maandi combination. During this time the whole Yoga got activated and history happened.

Warm Regards
Sanjay P

India's next phase Sun Dasa

|| Om Gurave Namah ||

Dear Friends,

  India is going to start it's next phase soon with Sun dasa starting on 2009 July.

Looking back we had the 20 years of Venus dasa from 1989 to 2009 Jul. This was overall a period of much development, Venus gave much luxuries,wealth and comfort. Venus is the kaaraka for good clothes, vehicles etc.

The dasa started with the bad note, with assassination of the former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. One way Rajiv Gandhi was one of the key factors to push India towards Information technology changes. (REF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_technology_in_India)

The whole of Venus dasa we saw much change in political scene. Congress as the single dominant party was diminishing and coalition govt became the norm. The political scene underwent many changes, As Venus being the lagna lord made a lot of "rethinking". Normally in for a five year term in twenty year should have given only four prime-ministers, This dasa in fact gave Nine prime-ministers!. (REF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_technology_in_India)
Venus being in Gandanta Nakshatra of Ashlesha gave these changes. Primarily being the lagna lord it made some systematic changes. Lagna Lord indicates the Dhi or thinking of the nation, So it had to experiment with so many parties and prime-ministers.

Now, Looking forward, The dasa coming is of Sun. It's the Atmakaaraka. Atmakaaraka dasa usually is very strong on soul searching of the nation. Being Sun here the natural atmakaaraka and a hot graha we can expect some drastic changes in "King" level in India for next six years. This will not be easy. Nation has to search for it's soul, the basis of nations foundation will have to be revisited. In my perspective this would be the Gandhian principles of Ahimsa. As Sun stands for Father and Soul. Gandhi is also called the father of the nation.

The next parliamentary elections are round the corner around May-2009. So this is preparation for the change. Outgoing Venus dasa the incoming Sun dasa both are conjoined in same Ashlesha nakshatra with Saturn. So, some rework in coalition is possible but the dominating power will change. These three graha's indicate the three major fronts in Indian politics.

Sun being the 4th lord, I would assume that some Land (border) disputes is possible. In fact being the Atmakaaraka, This problem is from the very formation of India. Atmakaaraka problems linger long. These problems would come back again to haunt in a different manner.

This Sun is in Pisces Navamsa a peaceful sign a deep friends sign. So it's really happy (mudita), So overall it fortune wise it would be peacefull.

The Sun being malefic atmakaaraka, India should not take egoistic, proud or arrogant decisions in this dasa.

The Sun being in 11th from Arudha Lagna, It will give much gains on Power related growths. This is also good period for India to mature politically.

Warm Regards
Sanjay P

Dear Jyotishas,
 The current war of Sri Lanka against LTTE turning very interesting. I was trying to look in the chart og Vellupillai Prabhakaran the Chief of LTTE ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velupillai_Prabhakaran for further reading).

I have made the chart based on some little information I could gather from the internet.  The Chart is given below the date of birth is acceptable to many sources. The time of birth exactly is doubtfull. The chart can be taken accurate upto the date and I feel the Rashi lagna atleast to be okay, So use to accordingly. Some charts also indicate Taurus lagna for him.

My personal thought about accurate time is that, Even Little knowledge of birth time is good enough to give some prediction. Partial knowledge is not useless. If the exact time is missing then possibly the Mother nature is preventing the jyotish from revealing everything. So I would take the information of atleast the date to indicate that Mother nature permits us to reveal enough about the person nakshatra etc. A partial knowledge about time indicates that astrolger should restrict to only that much analysis. For example if you know just the year (samvatsara) then just predict only little bit using the saturn, jupiter and samvatsara results. If you know the month also then use that information like like Surya lagna and add little more and so on. If the shakuna is conducive then maybe we can adjust the time or use prashna, Else not.

* The Nakshatra of this native is Jyeshta. A Gandanta nakshatra between asura and sura. So the person is born with innate tendency to get into wars due to this combination. the current Dasha is of moon which is debilitated. This period uptil say Oct 2009 counld be very difficult for him. The debilitated moon (Which could be in 8th if we take Aries lagna) could possible mean danger from water. If he sees the next mars dasa it can be helpful to him as it's shubha pati (lord of moon). Moon is under kartari from Rahu and Saturn. and 2nd and 8th from is also having malefics form kemadruma yoga.

* Kaala Sarpa Yoga broken by Mars: This made the person use violence means to break away from Bandhana, proverty etc.

* The Rahu+Jupiter Chandala yoga in Navamsa: Indicates human deaths. This combination should mostly be aspecting the navamsa lagna for the person to be involved. Rahu in Jupiter's house in Rashi indicates the area which is blocking one's understanding. In Natural 9th here it indicates law and order.

Warm Regards

ALTERNATIVE TO UPAPADA FASTING

Namaste friends,

I would like to express my reservations on a couple of issues. It is funny that I should be typing this email on an Ekadashi day, when many Vaishnavas fast irrespective of their horoscopes.

> >> Here is my point and view about the question raised. 2nd bhava is
> >> the bhava of Vishnu, sustainer, and if we fast on the day of UL in
> >> 2nd house, we bring insult to Vishnu who provides the food for us.

My dear Zoran, please allow me to express my disagreement.

Austerities can never be seen as an insult to Vishnu. Self-deprivation of 2nd house matters such as food (fasting) or speech (mouna vrata - vow of silence) are austerities. Giving up food or speech is not an insult to Vishnu just as giving up sex (i.e. brahmacharya) is not an insult to Sukracharya (Venus).

Various gods bestow various things on us, some at the gross physical level and some at the subtle spiritual level. As we overcome our dependendency on gross things, we make progress at the subtle level.

If one eats food, a good amount of internal fire (and subtle internal energy associated with it) is used for digesting it and for generating physical energy from it. If one fasts, that subtle energy is unused and available for other things. This is a tremendous benefit. As a result, one can better digest mantras and spiritual food available all around one.

The mantra one meditates with at the end of a day's fasting is far more effective than at other times. The conservation of energy otherwise spent on digestion or speech will enable far more effective mantra meditation. So fast or keep mouna and then meditate with a mantra, to maximize the effect of the mantra.

Why does a rashi carry the energy of vaara only and not that of the tithi???? Why does rashi represent vaara or fire?

After all, Rudra rules over the element of fire and Gouri rules over the element of water and one worships Gouri at the time of marriage. Moreover, Venus (water) is the karaka for marriage. So one could even say that UL/marriage is represented by water element and fasting on UL lord's tithi brings the element of water (prosperity and well-being) to one's marriage (UL)? One could even say that fasting on the weekday of UL lord should be prohibited as it brings the fire element represented by weekday to the water of UL and causes "gandanta"!

Seriously, however, this kind of stretching of gandanta concepts is quite illogical.

Now one more thing: Marriage is a yoga between two souls and why not suggest fasting on the yoga day of the UL lord?

Picking tithi based on house (12th house - Dwadashi, 4th house - Chaturthi) is illogical as there are 12 houses only and more tithis.

I have realized one thing over the years - If something is not structurally sound, it is most likely false knowledge.

* * *

I can categorically declare one thing with utmost confidence. You pick any weekday or tithi and take a vow to fast or do mouna vrata (remain silent) on that weekday or tithi and meditate with a particular mantra (any) at the end of the day. You can take a vow to keep that practice for a certain duration of time (say, a few months or years) for a specific purpose. Take a vow and keep the vrata for the duration. If brahmacharya can be kept for the duration of the vrata, there is nothing like it!

If you keep such a vrata sincerely, you will make positive progress towards achieving your purpose and definitely not go backwards, irrespective of what is said by technical calculations based on our half-baked Jyotish knowledge.

* * *

My friends, use the Jyotish knowledge available, but do realize that it is imperfect and corrupted. Why is only the UL lord important? So many planets may have so many kinds of influence on UL in a chart. And UL is one of several factors showing marriage. There may be various influences in a chart showing marriage. Is our thumb rule of using UL lord's weekday missing some important factors? Quite possible!

But, despite some arbitrariness and imperfection, if a thumb rule allows you to pick an austerity with confidence and create the mental feeling that you are doing the best possible thing for your situation, it is good. After all, what is critical is to do *some* austerity to burn the blocking karma, with a positive frame of mind about what you are doing.

But, if endless theorization and complicated technicalities evolving from the thumb rule are creating doubts and confusion in the minds of people as they consider an austerity, that is useless and totally missing the point.

Some people tend to resort to heavy theorization based on very shaky grounds. I suggest going back to the basics, thinking clearly and keeping things simple.

Gem stones may harm when used incorrectly. But, austerities like prayers, fasting, mouna vrata and brahmacharya will NEVER do you any harm. If your body can take fasting, you can do it on any weekday or tithi without too many calculations.

Best regards,
Narasimha
